- Middle Ages is a 100 year-long period between 5th and 15th century AD.
- Modern Era is a 400 year-long period starting with the discovery of America (in 1492) and ending with the end of World War I (1918).
- Archaeological findings from Most na Soči show that Slaves settled this area in the 7th century.
- The first feudal lords in the Tolmin Region were the patriarchs of Aquileia. Later, the the Republic of Venice and the House of Habsbourg also reigned in this area.
- In the Middle Ages, the Bridge at St. Maurus’ was the only bridge across the Soča River on the Kobarid–Kanal section.
